Q. What is accelerated internet access?
A. Accelerated internet access is marketed as a "up
to 5X faster" internet connection from your Dial up ISP provider.
This is an add-on to a standard dial-up account. Accelerated internet
access can add an additional charge to your monthly dial up subscription
fees.
Q. What does accelerated internet do?
A. Accelerated internet access loads webpages faster
using a 'cache'. This means that webpages that you frequent are stored
so that when you return to these pages, it can que them faster.
Q. Does accelerated internet access have any limitations?
A. Yes. Accelerated internet access will not improve
download times and shouldn't be confused with a Cable or DSL internet
connection. Internet accelerators still use a dial-up connection to
utilize their technology.
Q. What is accelerated?
A. Web Pages, Graphics, Text, Email and Webmail.
Q. What is not accelerated?
A. Streaming media, audio and video files, Encrypted
data within a VPN connection, Secure pages(such as those used for online
banking), Files for downloading such as music or digital photos.
Q. Is accelerated internet worth the extra money?
A. Accelerated internet does improve your experience,
but as mentioned above will not improve file download times
